Weld positions

There are various types of welding opinion in different workshop for exact method of welding position. Weld positions are varying for different countries welders. So this type of  confusion  can be avoided by follow the given guideline of British Standards Institution, which have been collaboration with some leading British welding firms.

Generally there are main five types of welding position followed.

Position
Slope
Rotation
Symbol
Flat
Inclined
Not exceeding 100
Exceeding 100 but not exceeding 450
Not exceeding 100
Not exceeding 900
F
I
Horizontal-vertical
Not exceeding 100
Exceeding 100 but not exceeding 900
H
Vertical
Exceeding 450
Any angle
V
Overhead
Not exceeding 450
Exceeding 900
O

The another weld position is weld slope, which is defined as the angle formed between the line of the weld root and a horizontal reference plane bellow the lowest portion of the weld (follow bellow picture).
